We invite you to discover the joy of creativity in traditional
Russian craftmaking - a generous gift of our ancestors:
- weaving using simple devices (planks, looms, etc)
- archaic ways of making pots, dishes and jewelry from clay (coil ceramics)
- felt (felt-making)
- dying using natural dyes
- traditional clothing (making of pattern, cutting, sewing and decoration)
- traditional dolls 'Bereginya' (guardian dolls), etc.
- folk Crafts of Africa and South America
Also you will have the opportunity to participate in the
spiritual life and work of our village. |

16th — 24th June, Summer Solstice Folk Celebration

During this week we will be learning traditional
Russian folk songs and dances. There will be daily classes in traditional
Russian costume making, carpentry and wood carving. We also will explore
traditional pottery and weaving. The week will be fulfilled by the day of
Solstice Celebration
when we will wear the cloth we made and will dance and sing songs we learned.You
will also have the opportunity to participate in the work and spiritual
life of our ecovillage. |

23rd July, «Earth Day»
11 years Anniversary of Ecovillage in Grishino |

«Although the
Earth is so big, it is very, very sensitive»

On this day we will celebrate unity with the Mother Earth.
We will greet the sunrise, and will spend the morning in silence and solitude,
meditating on our predestination. After this we will gather around the festive
table laden with the gifts of nature, and share our joy and our gratitude
through song and dance. |

24th — 31st July, Ecovillage seminar

We invite like-minded people to get to
know one another; to happily and intensively dive into Grishino's everyday
life; to rest actively; to sing, play and work together. This meeting is
being organized for those who already live in eco-villages, as well as for
those who would like to work on their projects, and for those who would
like to know more about ecological lifestyles. The main theme of the seminar
this year is Ecovillage - Family - Education. |

1st — 8th August, Russian in Community

Eco-village Grishino invites you to come
and learn or improve your Russian, whilst living within the Community. There
will be organized lessons and living communication with Russian people,
which will enable you to put into practice what you have learnt. The lessons
will be taught by Vladimir Zakharov, who has experience of teaching Russian
in a College in England.
The Spirit of the Russian Land, with all her wild beauty surrounding you,
and her voice heard in the traditional Russian Folk Songs, and her ways
in her customs and culture... will help you to absorb and to merge with
the language.

Begin by feeling the pulse of the Earth herself, then
let yourself flow with the rhythms which exist within and all around
of you. Become at one with them and let your hands sound them out through
drums and your body through the Dances of Universal Peace, being guided
and inspired by Gayan Gregory Long, American Drum Teacher and Dance
Leader.

Please don't forget to put your e-mail, address and telephone number, to enable us to confirm your participation, and to let you know the time when we will meet you at the Svir Railway Station (trains pass through this station on the way to Murmansk and Petrozavodsk), and we will take you on to Grishino.
When you come to our programmes...
Please take with you: sleeping bag, bedding roll, bowl and mug, swimming costume, mosquito repellant, waterproofs, you may even bring a tent if you like.
